Environmental education is an essential step towards sustainable development as it raises awareness of society about environmental problems and provides skills for taking the necessary actions. Thus in the framework of the demonstration RECP project as a component of EaP GREEN Programme, funded by EU, the set of lectures on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production is developing. It contains theoretical and practical training materials on the basic principles and approaches of RECP methodology, developed by UNEP and UNIDO as comprehensive preventive environmental strategy to manufacturing processes, products and services to increase efficiency and reduce risks to humans and environment.

The set of lectures on RECP is supposed to be used as a basis of the training course in respective universities’ syllabuses and study programs of other educational institutions. With this set the lecturers of educational institutions will be enabled to develop their own course on RECP for students of technical and environmental departments. It is aimed to develop the national cadre potential for further provision of sustainable industrial consumption and production and acceleration of the country’s transition to the green economy.

The workshop “Resource efficient and cleaner production learning course for national higher education institutions” is planned to be conducted on 18^th of May 2017 at Aarhus Information and Educational Centre under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine. Address: 35, Vasyliia Lypkivskogo street, Kyiv, Ukraine.

The main objectives of the workshopare:

- to present the RECP learning course concept and content to representatives of universities, institutes, academies and other educational establishments;

- to identify the request for this course in educational institutions;

- to discuss issues of thenew training course application (methodological, organizational, etc.);

- to receive comments and propositions for further development of the learning course.

The lectures set will be updated on the basis of feedback, published, and disseminated among educational institutions interested inforthcoming implementation of RECP course in syllabuses. The RECP Centre as implementing organization of demonstration RECP project will provide support to educational institutions in this process for awareness of RECP and strengthening its human capacity in Ukraine.
