Возобновляемые и невозобновляемые ресурсы в обеспечении экономического роста: опыт Винницкого региона

vittitsa finale 16 декабря 2016 в Виннице состоялась конференция «Возобновляемыеи невозобновляемые ресурсы в обеспечении экономического роста: опыт проекта ЮНИДО в Винницкой области». Конференция организована Центром ресурсоэффективного и чистого производства (Центр РЭЧП) в рамках проекта Организации Объединенных Наций по промышленному развитию (ЮНИДО) в Украине.

На конференции были представлены результаты реализации ресурcоефективного и более чистого производства на семи (7) предприятиях Винницкого региона, которые стали участниками проекта в 2016 году.

Issues studied by the Centre

What is the problem?

• Women have always been an integral part of industrial process, but traditionally their role and contribution were paid little attention to.

• Women do not play an active role in decision-making in industry.

• Industrial buildings are usually located in regions, so that women who work there feel isolated.

• Women in industry feel lack of necessary models for themselves for a wider and more active involvement in industry.

What can be done?

• Develop initiatives aimed at increasing the number of women in technical specialties and at career development.

• Develop initiatives aimed at development of leadership skills of female students of technical specialties.

• Inspire women to open their full potential as engineers and leaders, respect their contribution and success.

• Strengthen the dynamic environment that encourages personal and professional development of students and female students of technical specialties.

• Cooperate with government to ensure better consideration of social influence of politics and decision-making.

• Encourage women to participate more actively in the development of technical sciences.

• Enhance the overall experience of women in industry and development of their careers in research and working in industry.

Activities Review

The Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre, which functions in Ukraine with the support of UNIDO began the work in the direction of gender mainstreaming in 2013. During the year, the following activities were implemented.

Gender analysis

- Report "Opportunity to consider gender issues in the Cleaner Production Centre in Ukraine"

The aim of this study was to ensure consideration of gender issues in the Centre`s work. Through in-depth review of literature and interviews with government officials, industry representatives, female leaders and entrepreneurs, members of associations, non-governmental organizations, the report describes gender inequality and provides certain recommendations. This was achieved through analysis at the country level and in the field of international and internal commitments to gender equality, policies and practices of labour, the number of women in technical specialties in education, their economic, political and social rights comparing to men, access to finance and thorough deep gender analysis in following sectors: chemical, metal and food industry (industrial agriculture). Gender analysis also refers to additional sectors related to the gender`s assessment influence of key stakeholders, analysis of The Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre (Centre), possible risks and opportunities for the whole project in implementing gender component. There are also numerous links to sources such as statistics, international and national documents, researches etc.

- Recommendations for changes in The Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Toolkit (Part 1 - 4), Kyiv, 2012, including gender equality principle

The toolkit is written without any gender stereotypes, but there is a possibility to change the contents for more gender sensitive text.

- Review of the organizational management toolkit

Review of the organizational management toolkit involves analysis of main text for the presence of discriminatory or stereotypical provisions; analysis of additional texts (description of cases and quotations); recommendations on introducing more gender sensitive texts and regulations and analysis of visual products. Management has more provisions, which may be supplemented by gender components.

Gender capacity of the Centre`s staff

- Training, seminars and meetings

In the process of report preparation and during the year there were conducted trainings, seminars, meetings. They related as to general provisions of Gender Policy (April, July), so special topics such as gender inequality in industry (June), gender component of the communication process (October), sexism in mass media, advertising and other visual products (October) etc. Events were held in interactive form with active participation of male and female participants. The Centre also received the literature published by the Information and Consultation Women's Centre for the subject of sexism prevention in media, advertising and other visual products.

- Gender disaggregated statistics

Gender disaggregated statistics as an important part of gender integration processes was often discussed at the Centre. It was decided to make such statistics with all measures that are made at the Centre.

The Centre implements the policy of gender equality and the criterion of gender parity (30/70) consistently. It is appeared in the staff hiring, training project, involving partners, etc.

Now women consist of 38% of the Centre`s Core Team, 33% of technical experts. Two of the five Centre`s regional coordinators (Lviv and Odesa) are women.

The Centre has trained 25 women-trainees in 2014 and 17 – in 2015 (40% and 30% of the total number of trainees).

27 trainees was certified by UNIDO in 2015, including 9 women (33%).

In the RECPC informational seminars 233 listeners have participated in 2015, including 67 women (29%).
