Businessmen, entrepreneurs, governmental officials and representatives of non-governmental organizations and branch business associations jointly discussed social and economic and social and political situation in the country at the extended session of the Board of the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Ukraine (UIEU). The session was also attended by Yuriy Boyko, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for Ecology, Natural Resources, Energy and Space.
Currently situation in Ukraine is unfavorable for business operation and ensuring of national economy competitiveness level, stated the UIEU representatives. Unresolved urgent issues related to high level of products energy intensity, significant depreciation of the main assets, low labor efficiency and competitiveness and extremely high credit interest rates result in gradual loss of local products markets, decline in industrial sectors, unemployment, etc.
Businessmen expressed their concern with the situation in national economy. In 2013 industrial production decreased by 4,7% if compared with the similar period of the previous year. The country investment attractiveness also decreased which resulted in reduction of direct investments into national economy.
Numerous governmental programs and concepts aimed at resolution of various economic and social problems are not being implemented. Businessmen laid high hopes on the State Program on mainstreaming of economic development for 2013-2014 but implementation of this program never started.
Only systematic approach aimed at industrial recovery may improve the situation, increase production competitiveness level and increase internal effective demand, implement import-substituting and productive localization programs, believe the UIEU representatives.
Public opinion is that much attention should be paid to small and mid-sized business through deregulation, fiscal pressure decrease and provision of access to credit resources with interest rate not higher than 12-13%.
Due to the abovementioned business public insists on an immediate meeting with the prime Minister of Ukraine for discussion of a plan of implementation of State programs on mainstreaming of economic development for 2013-2014 and local production development. It is also necessary to discuss increase of efficiency of Ministry of industrial policy and Ministry of Economic Development of Trade of Ukraine.
