Announcement of seminar "Increasing companies resource efficiency: cooperation with Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre"

Awareness raising seminar "Increasing companies resource efficiency: cooperation with Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre" is scheduled for June 9, 2015 at 10.00 in the conference-hall of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky City Council (address: 27/25, Khmelnitskogo Str.)

The seminar is hosted by Resource-Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre (Kyiv) together with Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky City Council. The representatives of private and municipal enterprises, educational and medical institutions, NGOs from Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky town and Pereyaslav Khmelnitsky district are invited to participation in the seminar.

The seminar focuses on promotion of the project of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization “Promoting the adaptation and adoption of RECP (resource efficient and cleaner production) through the establishment and operation of a Cleaner Production Centre (CPC) inUkraine” in Kyiv region, particularly in Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky district. The project aims to increase the competitiveness and environmental responsibility of the Ukrainian enterprises by introducing new methods, practices and technologies. With this purpose Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre created under the project provides the companies with the detailed recommendations on how to reduce inefficient use of resources.

Specific practical examples of increasing productivity indicators of companies in Ukraine due to introduction of resource-efficient and cleaner production model prove that introduction of this methodology allows businesses to reach significant savings of resources, water and energy, reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, comply with the European technical standards and increase the stability and competitiveness.

In 2013-2016 the project to be implemented in four regions (Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia and Odesa regions). RECP Center is a part of a network that includes more than 70 national centers introducing resource-efficient and cleaner production around the world, similar centres operate in Eastern Europe, Asia, Central and Latin America.

During the seminar the following topics will be discussed:

1. UNIDO activity in Ukraine: the main achievements and experience of RECP Centre;

2. Resource-efficient and cleaner production: strengths and advantages of this approach.

3. Empowering businesses through introduction of resource-efficient and cleaner production model into production process. The essence is to discover economically and technologically inappropriate consumption of energy, water and materials during the production process and to develop technical solutions allowing reduction of inefficient use of resources. In addition, proposed methodology helps reducing emissions of harmful gases and contaminated water runoffs into the environment without decreasing production output.

4. Assessment of energy efficiency of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky schools, kindergartens, companies and hospitals.

5. Areas of cooperation with the UNIDO project and prospects of its implementation.

During the discussion the participants will discuss the possibilities of the project implementation in Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky town and Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky district.
