Forum “Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP): energy efficiency”

On 6th of November, 2015 in Room of Administrative Board of National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Politechnic Institute” was held the Forum “Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP): energy efficiency” that was dedicated to the popularization of resource efficient and cleaner production concept in Ukraine. Forum was organized in a framework of “Greening Economies in the Eastern Neighbourhood” (EaP GREEN) international programme and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Resources Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) Demonstration Project.

In a work of the Forum took part the representatives of Ministry of ecology and natural resources of Ukraine, Ministry of energy and coal industry of Ukraine, State agency for energy efficiency and energy saving of Ukraine, representatives of scientific and educational spheres, enterprises of different sectors, NGO’s and Public Association, who supports the ideas of greening the industry and necessity of its energy efficiency increase.

Mariia Tsybka, National coordinator of EaP GREEN Demonstration Project in Ukraine has opened the event. Greeting word was held by Viktor Bilko, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy efficiency technical regulations, who had also accentuated the importance of increase the efficiency of energy supply in Ukraine. Gennadiy Gaiko, Deputy Director for Science of Institute for Energy Saving and Energy Management (IEE) NTUU KPI, told about inextricable connection between science and industry and about ways of improve the energy situation in Ukraine. Sergii Panchenko, Head of Ukrainian Union of Manufacturers of Building Materials, had also welcomed the presence and emphasized the importance of solving the energy problems of Ukrainian enterprises and need of creation of the institutions, which will provide the informative and practical support in this direction.

Luidmyla Musina, UNIDO Coordinator in Ukraine, has underlined the expediency of such events with the aim to raise social awareness about the existing effective methods and practices of transferring to “green” economy and importance of support of this vector on governmental level.

The present state of Energy sector of Ukraine and its impact on business and environment has described in his speech Valeriy Pavshuk, Technical director of RECP Center in Ukraine.

National communication and Advocacy Expert and Moderator of the Forum, Kateryna Pryjmak, had represented the primer “Techniques and practices of resource efficient production”, which was published in a framework of EaP GREEN Programme as an auxiliary methodological material of RECP implementation for the enterprises of small and medium business.

The major part of the Forum was dedicated to experience and gained results exchange of implementation RECP and energy saving actions on the operating enterprises and industry objects in different regions of Ukraine. There was discussed the necessity of energy management systems implementation at national and foreign enterprises. All the participants had the opportunity to express their views on the challenges, opportunities and motivation of the enterprises in addressing energy efficiency issue, to comment the performances of the participants, offer new ideas and share useful contacts. Expressed remarks and comments will be taken into account in the further implementation of the RECP project in Ukraine.
