Best practices in energy saving to municipal enterprises in Kyiv

On 6-7 October 2015 directors of municipal enterprises and services of the Desnianskyi district in Kyiv took part in the seminar on energy saving. The seminar was organized by the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre with the assistance of Desnianska district municipal administration. As a guest speaker was invited a leading expert from UNIDO, managing director of the STENUM Company, Johannes Fresner (The Republic of Austria).

In the course of the visit Austrian expert got acquainted with a heating system at schools of the Desnianskyi district (overwhelming majority of schools use individual heating units) and lighting system of typical residential buildings. Mr. Fresner have mentioned that municipal administrations of different countries face with similar problems. One of the key problems is regarding to reduction of inefficient energy and resources consumption while social objects and road facilities handling without any losses in comfort for inhabitants of a modern metropolis.

The Head of the Desnianska district municipal administration Vadym Onufriichuk emphasized that this year will be the first in the history, when formation of municipal treasury does not associated with state budget approval process. More authorities are given to local places today what means bringing additional opportunities for municipal administrations on implementation of the resource efficient and energy efficient programmes at local level. For this reason such seminars give to Ukrainian municipal administrations an opportunity of competent charges planning based on updated experience on energy efficiency from international experts.
